300+ educators from across Ukraine have upgraded their qualifications in the field of preventing sexual violence against children

In September, our team held a series of professional webinars titled “Preventing Sexual Violence Against Children: The Teacher’s Role in Prevention,” which became one of the largest educational initiatives for educators in this field.

More than 300 teachers, homeroom educators, psychologists, and social workers from all regions of Ukraine took part in the training.

According to international research, one in five children worldwide experiences sexual violence or harassment, and in most cases it happens in environments where the child should feel safe — among familiar people.

Teachers are often the first adults a child is willing to confide in.

That’s why educators must be not only providers of knowledge, but also professionals capable of recognizing warning signs, responding appropriately, and activating support mechanisms.

• safe communication methods for interacting with a child who may have experienced trauma
• tools for preventive work in the classroom — from practical exercises to animated videos and thematic lesson plans
• recommendations for cooperation with parents, school administration and child protection services

  From theory to implementation: following the training, educators conducted safety lessons in their schools and received professional development certificates, confirming their readiness to work in line with modern child protection standards. Our shared goal is to make every school a space of trust.
